Magnuson's Megaphone

Quarter 2 has come to an end today, January 20. Report cards will hit the parent portal by January 30. Our students are working hard to complete their NWEA Measure of Academic Progress testing to see how much growth they've had so far. Students in Lake Huron have started their DARE Program, and are working to earn an extra day with the dogs. Our authorizer, Ferris State University, has gifted each of our Kinder through 4th-grade students a book, along with a stuffed animal to read it with and to. Those will be handed out next week.

LATCHKEY has started again! Mrs. Sehr runs a latchkey session each morning from 6:00 am-7:30 am, and each afternoon from 3:10 pm-6:00 pm. Call the office if you need an application or have any questions.

We LOVE our family volunteers. If you'd like to come into your student's room to read with kids, help with lunch, or be an extra set of eyes and hands at recess, gym, art, or another subject, let us know. The kids love to see you here and the teachers all appreciate a bit of extra help.

After-school sports or club volunteers are always needed. Contact the office if you can help with that.

Remember to watch for New Bedford Academy's name as you're watching for school closings due to the weather. We post independently from other local districts, so watch for our name and a Messenger alert.

Have fun and stay warm out there!

Here comes March already! Another year is flying by as we break out of February. This month will be a busy one, so be sure to keep an eye on your activity calendar (click here for another copy). We always start March off with Dr. Seuss's birthday and Right to Read week. Daylight Saving Time comes in on March 12 so your clocks will (mostly) Spring forward an hour automatically. We have some delicious fund-raisers this month - coffee, Tastefully Simple, and even another Sidelines Day.

We have to Trade Fair coming up fast on Saturday, March 11th from 10 am-5 pm (plus tear-down). If you can donate an hour or two to our booth, please let the office know so we can put you on our list. We look forward to seeing everyone there.

Our next PTT meeting is on the 15th. We'll be nominating new PTT Board Members that night, so show up in person to nominate someone or accept a nomination yourself. The meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. and has free childcare for NBA families.

The March Board meeting will be on the 21st at the school at 7:45 a.m. If you'd like to address the board, sign in when you get here.

Friday, March 24th is a half-day, with kids being released at 11:15 a.m.

Stay warm and safe out there with this crazy weather!
