Section 98b of Public Act 144 of 2022 (pages 97-98) requires local education agencies (LEAs), both traditional public school districts and public school academies (PSAs), to establish, by no later than September 15, 2022, academic goals expected to be achieved for the 2022-23 academic year for each school.
*PA 103 of 2023 repealed section 98b (school goals reporting), effective July 21, 2023. The requirements existing prior to that date remain in effect.

The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) will open the application window on September 15, 2022, for local education agencies (LEAs), both traditional public school districts and public school academies (PSAs), to apply for Section 98c funds to address learning loss.
These funds were made available through Public Act (PA) 144 of 2022 (MCL 388.1698c), which was signed into law on July 14, 2022, by Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
